Sapna:
2010 file has summary tasks and subtasks using:
1.Some text with different colors,
2.Some bold fonts are bold,
3.Some underline fonts,
4.Some strikethrough fonts,
5.Some inactive fonts.
Is there any incompatibility with 1 through 5 saving the 2010 file to a 2007 .
Thank you
Ken S
Hi Ken,
The Formatting of Font in following condition stays :
2010 file has summary tasks and subtasks using:
1.Some text with different colors, [2010 have 32-bit color while 2007 is 16-bit, so variation in some color could be seen]
2.Some bold fonts are bold, [Stays]
3.Some underline fonts, [Stays]
4.Some strikethrough fonts, [Strike through removed]
5.Some inactive fonts. [This is feature of 2010 so in 2007 they get deleted]
Summarizing below :
Inactive tasks Inactive tasks are deleted.
Strikethrough font Strikethrough font is removed. The task is not deleted.
Color effects 32-bit color is set to the closest of the 16 types of color for bar styles, indicators, and other graphical effects.
This is Project pro 2010 and Project 2007

In Project Pro 2010 [AFTER RESOURCES HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED AND LEVELED], I need to relocate an existing section of summary tasks, subtasks and milestones to a different section of the Gantt Chart table. The entire relocated section should remove the WBS level code at the previous location and take NEW WBS level numbering codes (use the Project 2010 WBS code system and not a custom code) at the relocated section within the Gantt Chart table.
1. What are the possible ways to move this entire section, and
2. Get new WGS level codes for the relocated section tasks, and
3. What effect will this section relocation have on the WBS level codes of all other sections which have been moved as a result of this section relocation?
Thank you
Ken S
Hi Ken,
1. Just select all the tasks by clicking on them, then release the click, now simply drag and drop the block at an appropriate postion in the plan.
2. The tool does the rest for you, it will calculate the WBS for this shifted set of tasks and other tasks.
3. So entire WBS will be calculated based on the outline number where you have inserted this block of tasks and that you can verify by inserting WBS Column into the table.
Hi Shukla:
Question 1 and 2:
Q1. When having only the Task Form view showing (not a split screen composite view, on the screen (of course the usual ribbon tabs are showing) but clicking on file tab and print button to print this task form view page content I cannot print this view page and the right side pane of the print setup screen reads … Print not available currently.
Q-1. How can I correct this.
Q2.. Similar but slightly different print question. With a composite split screen view (such as Gantt view and task form or Gantt view and task details view, if request to print the split screen shown on the monitor this complete composite view cannot be printed – only the Gantt view portion can be printed.
Q-2.. How to correct this?
Hello Sapna Shukla
i have a question in the MSP 2010 linking the Task
Say you have Task A start it starts from 4/03/2013 and Finish by 8/03/2013
Now the Task B need to start on 6/03/2013
My question is how to link it ???
I can’t use Finish to Start or Start to Start
Even when i tryed to put constraint its greayed
You can use lag time depending on the nature of the relationships between the tasks.
Hello Sapna Shukla
Ah Ah ok,
Thanks
Hello Sapna,
I have a question on pwa 2010 :
-> we are using add yourself to a task and we would like to make available only specific tasks of the projects ? is it possible ? may be with a customization ? (by default, when the user belong the project team they can see the project and self assign on all the project tasks, how to limit ?
-> Is it possible to prevent users that are assigned on summary tasks ?
Thank you in advance for your kind help,
Sorry for delayed reply, not available out of box but yes would be possible with customization but would need quite a bit of customization in there
Hi Sapna,
I have a question related to custom field limitations in Project Server. I have to enter large amount of text data (objectives summary, benefits summary) etc. against projects. Multiple lines text custom field supports only upto 4000 characters (and my summaries are more than that). Uploading the data as documents in Project Site is also not viable option because custom reports need to be generated based on these fields. I saw a post from 2012 with some suggestions (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/ca2bf291-6a20-48c5-bd61-2c460a4568ec/project-server-custom-fields-limitation?forum=projectserver2010general), but could not figure it out. Any help will be appreciated.

Raoul
We are using MS Project Server 2013 in SharePoint permission mode. We have developed some EXCEL reports in BI site which use Excel services. When anybody ( who has access to BI site ) views any excel report, he can see all information ( i.e. projects, tasks, resources etc. ) irrespective of his group . How to fetch data according to group permissions into Excel reports ?
Out of box or via configuration there is no way that you can filter one single report based on PS group, as an alternate you can place reports in separate folders and then sync those folders with the same SharePoint security groups being used which is restricting specific reports to specific security group, this may not entirely solve the problem but just an option
Another option would be to use Owner field as filter for reports(e.g. if the current logged on user doesn’t matches the Owner or any specific ECF in PS then filter out the data accordingly) using excel web access web part would help connecting with the filter webpart
